Introducing The Broke Socialite…Now ‘The Author’

Posted by

The Broke Socialite's First Author Booth. Creative Branding, Design and Styling by Melanie Hernquist of Lucky + Lovely.

As some of you may well have noticed, I’ve been away for quite a bit. In the spirit of full transparency, Mama TBS has been quite ill and all is finally settling down on that front. #IHateCancer

Anywho…one of the projects that I’ve been working on so intently for the past few months is the publication of my very first book, Instantly!: How Quickly I Realized I HATE My Job. To say that the process is a beast would be an understatement.  The good news is that it’s all done and the book will be formally released tomorrow, June 19, 2012! *throws confetti and spins around and around and around while wearing my virtual ball skirt*.

Over the next few days, I will share the stories, videos and pictures from this phase of the process. I promise I will. Tomorrow night, I’ll host a swanky celebration for family and close friends. I really can’t wait. Writing the book was easy. Now the promotion of it begins…this will be the more challenging part. I am excited nonetheless.

Last Friday, I had a soft launch at the Atlanta installation of Tory Johnson’s Spark & Hustle. To say that I received great support and a warm reception would be a gross understatement.  I’ve even received my first review!

“Today I did something I rarely do on Sunday morning, I did NOT watch my political shows, but it was well worth it. I just read Instantly!: A Novella! Three things: 1) Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant! 2) I want more! 3) I think I used to work at TC! (sans cubicles :) Great job Shameeka Ayers! I think so many women will instantly (get it?!) identify with Nia’s plight, Congrats!”—Kelly

I hope that you will enjoy your very own copy. They will be  and I’ll even take a whirl on a book tour (check back for cities/dates close to you).  Want to know WHY I wrote Instantly? The answer is here.

See you in a couple of days!
